Image and Text Proposal

 Idea 1:
The first idea is taking a cliche picture of a flower or something and incorporating text in it like a calender. It actually doesn't have to be cliche is can be something very abstract and interesting.

Idea 2:
The second idea would be actually shooting text, for example text on billboards, walls, signs etc. it could be anything with text like the signs that say no entry signs to a graffiti wall.

Idea 3:
The third idea would be to create a poster. Taking pictures or a theater act or a dance performance and editing it in a way that looks like a poster.

Jessica- Playing with light

Picture 1
This picture creates a really nice reflection in the ocean. with the foam in the water, it creates a really nice pattern. She used a horizontal format in this picture. This picture has a asymmetrical balance where the water takes up majority of the picture and the land is just a third of the picture. That balance makes the picture for me!

Picture 2
I like the position she has taken the picture to where there are three different sized lights in the whole picture. I also like the clouds in the picture. they create a mood for he picture. She used a lot of converging lines in this picture. There is a rule of thirds applied in this picture too. This picture has a felt balance.

Picture 3
This picture is in the same location as the last on but she shot it at a different time, using the sun as the light source this time. I like the reflection of the flag on the strip of tiles in the left corner. Also the light in the water is like it is creating a gradient going from light near the far bridge to dark towards the front. In this picture she has also captured motion blur in the flags. this picture has a felt balance with the land being in one half and the water being in the other half,

Picture 4
I really like the mystery in this picture. I think that the balance in his picture with the dark all around and just one source of light is really nice.  She used the rule of thirds in this picture as the door is on a third and not in the center. The lights hitting on the bricks also shows a really nice texture on the bricks that is not seen in the bricks which are in the dark.

Picture 5
This is a picture of the moon. I like the clouds surrounding the moon as it creates a good balance with the  darks parts. This picture has a blur, It wold have been a really nice picture if she used a tripod!

Jessica- Motion

Picture 1
In this picture she captures motion blur. for composition she used symmetric balance with bikes on both sides of the picture. she also used the rule of thirds as the bicycle in motion is in 1/3 of the picture, there is a lamp post in the middle third and a bike in the first 1/3 of the picture. This picture was taken in horizontal format.

Picture 2
In this picture she has captured a sequence in six shots and stop motion. the sequence is seen with the bikers entering the frame and moving to the center of the picture. The birds are captured in stop motion. The rule of thirds is applied both horizontally and vertically with the bikers and the water being in one plane, the birds being in the middle and the shadow being in the front. I really like the textures captured in the sand in the whole sequence.

Writting Assignment 1

Mysterious like the dark side of the moon!

When I first look at this picture, it seems to be extremely creepy and mysterious. But as I keep looking at it, I wonder what is the story of the person in the dark? It’s so mysterious that the story could be anything. This picture screams emotion to me. It screams, "I am a bird, rapped in a dark cage. And everyday I glance at the window and it gives me a sense of freedom. It makes me wonder what is out there? It makes me feel like I just want to beak free and fly." This picture tells a story of a blind man who one day hope to see the world outside, who one day hopes to see more than the dark and see actual shapes and textures. This picture tells me the story of the young out who looks out of the window and looks at the countless possibilities of his future.  This photo tells a thousand stories…you just have to pick one and get inspired!
